Braycote 248 is designed to protect untreated, unpainted metal surfaces from the effects of indoor or shed exposure for six months or more. It is particularly suitable for the protection of frictionless bearings during storage or transportation.

Braycote 248 can be applied by immersion at temperatures between 160 ° F to 180 ° F (71 ° C to 82 ° C). It can be brushed or rubbed at room temperature when its consistency resembles a soft grease, or at high temperatures when it resembles an oil. Hot spray applications can be used to protect large pieces of equipment that are too large for immersion applications. Optimum performance can only be achieved when the metal surfaces to be protected are clean, dry and free of rust, oil and mill scale.

The scope of Braycote 248 will vary greatly depending on application method and surface geometries. The fragments were allowed to reach the temperature of the compound before being removed from the tank.
